DOVETAIL PROJECT

Here is what we are starting with. It's an '02 TJ 4.0 5 speed. The front axle is a Dana 30 with 4.56 gears and a detroit locker. The rear axle is a Dana 44 with 4.56 gears and a detroit locker. It has a 6" Full Traction lift with 36" TSL SX's. It also has a Razor Off Road cage, Rocker guards and engine skid plate.

 

The plans are to dovetail the rear, install a fiberglass crawler hood, and a new set of 38x12.5x15 SuperSwamper TSL SX's. We are also going to be installing a Dana 44 front axle and a Tera Low 4:1 kit in the T-case. We will be rebuilding the rear half of the cage to match the new dovetailed rearend and also building a rear stinger tire carrier combo.

 

 

 

This is the rear after it was cut and before we welded in the filler plate.

 

 

Here you can tell just how much the rear is getting narrowed.

We took 6.5" out on each side.

 

Here is what it looks like from the top with the filler plate installed. The new plate will house the flush mount LED tail light.
